[CLOSED] Position for innovation associate in the domain of Ambient Assisted Living (with PhD)

Job Summary

As innovation associate the candidate will be part of a new product development team in charge for the design and launch of a new product for ambient assisted living. She/he will work in close cooperation with the company management (CTO and CEO) and will contribute to the definition of the product strategy and of the product roadmap.


Main responsibilities:

From a technical point of view, the candidate will be in charge to coordinate design of a new product family by implementing a user-centred paradigm including collection of requirements from users, through organisation of focus groups, design and mock-up of the interface and overall design of the user experience. In addition, the candidate will be involved in the strategic marketing activities of the new product line, starting from market analysis and segmentation, to definition of USP and pricing model, up to the full product launch. For this reason the candidate will be engaged in a specific high-level training courses on product and business related aspects from a top business school in order to acquire the background competences to help drive the product development process up to the launch. 

The innovation associate will report to the CTO. The position may lead to challenging career opportunity as product manager after successful product launch.



  • A PhD (or equivalent degree) in software engineering related disciplines with demonstrated experience in human computer interaction or ambient assisted living.
  • Excellence at both written and spoken English is required.


Professional skills and experience :

  • Experience with design of user interface and/or products possibly targeting the consumer market.
  • Sound background in UX design.
  • Good understanding of programming problem and of software development.
  • Good knowledge of Java, Python and C#.
  • Mastery of IT tools and database


The following skills/experience represent a plus:

  • Previous experience as product manager or in product development process.
  • Previous experience with design of products specifically designed for old adults.
  • Previous working experience in high tech start-ups.
  • Experience or training in marketing.
  • Knowledge of normative and regulative aspects related to products for the healthcare market with particular regard to privacy (e.g. ethical approval procedures), data security and certification aspects.
  • Proficiency at both written and spoken French and/or German.

The candidate will be based in Nice, France and may require travelling in France or abroad (approx. 5-10% of the time).

The job position will be filled through funding by the Horizon 2020 programme (H2020 SME Innovation Associate call) hence the candidate will have to meet the requirement for transnational mobility as defined in the mobility rule of the Marie Slodowska Curie Actions (MSCA). That is the candidate may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before 1 September 2017 or recruitment date.
